On Thursday, April 24th TakeLab’s Artur Šilić successfully defended his PhD thesis, earning the academic title of a Doctor. Artur defended his thesis entitled “Temporal visualization of large text collections based on correspondence analysis” (“Vremenska vizualizacija velikih zbirki tekstova zasnovana na analizi korespondencije“). Artur graduated under the supervision of Professor Bojana Dalbelo Bašić. The thesis is the crown of Artur’s research on efficient visualization of large text collections (e.g., twenty years of New York Times) in terms of named entities mentioned and topics discussed.
The defense took place in FER’s lecture room D346. The event began with Artur’s 45 minutes long presentation of the thesis, followed by a Q&A session with the defense Committee (Prof. Nikola Bogunović, Assist. Prof. Jan Šnajder, Prof. Tvrtko Jakovina from Faculty of Arts and Sciences). Finally, the Committe withdrew for discussion and evaluation, returning with a positive decision! The celebration of this great Artur’s achievement was held in FER’s gallery.
