Alongside ACL, EMNLP is the most relevant conference in NLP. Its 2013 edition was held in Seattle, rainy capital of the Washington state, the fastest-growing major city in US. TakeLab’s Goran attended the conference and presented TakeLab’s work on event extraction in the Graph-based NLP Workshop.
This year’s edition of the Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP) was held in Seattle, the music-capital of the US. As usual, EMNLP gathered the crème de la crème of NLP and computational linguistics researchers.
While EMNLP 2013 will be remembered by reinforcing the reneissance of the deep learning models in NLP, we will remember it as TakeLab’s debut at this major event. TakeLab’s Goran attended the event, and presented the work entitled “Event-Centered Information Retrieval Using Kernels on Event Graphs” at the Graph-based NLP (TextGraphs-8) workshop.
The conference also provided Goran with a great opportunity to explore the Emerald city, the birthplace of grunge and Jimi Hendrix, and one of the few true music capitals of the world. The Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Experience Music Project Museum, Lake Union, Safeco and Century Link Fields, just to name a few among the visited landmarks (photos in the gallery).
