Car insurance fraud costs drivers billions of dollars. In collaboration with Comminus d.o.o., we developed a system to aid in car insurance fraud. The system applies text analytics on police reports, and can be used to detect potentially staged accidents.
In collaboration with Comminus d.o.o., we developed a tool for information extraction from police reports on car accidents. The tool automatically extracts named entities (such as event participants and car name plates) from the text. In addition, we developeded a tool to statistically analyse the co-occurrences of named entities in car accidents and their repetitive appearances in different traffic incidents. Cases detected as suspicious by the tool are indicative of staged accidents and serve as a starting point for further analysis by human experts.
