This course focuses on statistical models applied to solving various problems of prediction, classification, and clustering of high-dimensional data in data mining methods.
This course focuses on statistical models applied to solving various problems of prediction, classification, and clustering of high-dimensional data in data mining methods. The course covers the foundations of statistical data analysis and selected linear and non-linear models as well as selected multivariate techniques. The course also explains the concepts of supervised and unsupervised machine learning. During the course, case-studies of real-world applications are examined: applications of statistical models for bioinformatics, financial forecasting, text classification, and web search.
The Statistical Methods for Data Mining course is co-lectured by Prof. Bojana Dalbelo Bašić and Dr. Dunja Mladenić from Jožef Stefan Institute in Slovenia.
